We are closed for submissions for Issue Three. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements about the future of Bluff & Vine!
The winter flew by (except when we thought it would never end—how are the people of Westeros going to survive it?!), and you know what that means: Our submissions period is now open! We’re accepting fiction, nonfiction (including memoir), and poetry from now until September 1, 2019. Details can be found on our Submissions page. Drop us an email at email@example.com with any questions. We can’t wait to see what you’ve got for us for Issue Three. Good luck!
Last night we held a reception celebrating the release of Issue Two. Our friends at the Arc of Yates were kind enough to host. They showcased some of the incredible pieces made by the artists at SkylArc Studio, and provided food, drink, and merry music! We loved mixing and mingling with old friends, new friends, authors, and poets.
The best moment of the night for us was when we were able to present a big fat check (for one thousand dollars!) to the Arc. We couldn’t do Bluff & Vine without them, so it means so much to us to be able to give back to this important institution.
Check out all the pictures from the night here!
Thanks to reporter Susan Clark Thomas, Bluff & Vine was featured in the Finger Lakes Times on Sunday, November 11. Check out the article here!
We’re thrilled to announce the publication of Issue Two of Bluff & Vine! This issue includes twenty five pieces of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, that evoke the essence of life in and around Keuka Lake, and photography from our friends at SkylArc Studio at The Arc of Yates.
Grab a copy (or a dozen!) on Amazon. Want to buy a copy in your favorite bookstore? Ask them to order and stock it! It will be available on the shelves at our favorite bookstore, Longs’ Cards and Books, very soon.
Mark your calendars, too, for our Issue Two reception: December 10, 2018, from 5:30 to 7:30pm at SkylArc Studio at The Arc of Yates, 235 North Ave in Penn Yan. Mix and mingle with authors and artists, and add autographs to your copy of Bluff & Vine!
Summer always seems to go by in a rush, which is why we’re extending our deadline for submissions for Issue Two! You now have until September 1, 2018 to submit your fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and poetry to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don’t forget to check out the Submissions page for all the details. Have a great rest of your summer!
You have from now until August 1st to submit your best fiction, nonfiction, essay, memoir, or poem (yes, we are accepting poetry this year!) for our second issue. Get all the details on the Submissions page. We can’t wait to read your work!
Our Fall 2017 issue is here! You can buy it on Amazon here, or ask your local bookstore to stock it!

We couldn’t have put out Bluff & Vine without the help and support of our dedicated consulting editors, Sarah Thompson and R.W. Webb; thank you for your sharp eyes, your canny advice, and your unending good humor.
We are also indebted to the team at the Arc of Yates and SkylArc, particularly Doug Fleet, for their enthusiasm for this undertaking; you created a feedback loop of positive energy with each meeting and communication.
And thank you, always, to our endlessly supportive families, friends, and loved ones, near and far: We can’t wait to hear what you think of our first issue. Post a comment here, or add a review on Amazon. We look forward to hearing from you!
We’re opening our inbox for submissions on June 1st!
You have until August 31st to send us whatever you’ve got brewing, as long as it has some connection to Yates County, Keuka Lake, Seneca Lake, and the surrounding area. From fiction to memoir to non-fiction, we want it all! Head on over to our Submissions page (there’s a link in the top menu) to read our guidelines. And keep an eye on our events (shown at right) for notifications about our monthly workshops!
We’re excited to announce that Bluff & Vine will feature the work of artists from SkylArc Studio!
We’ll let them introduce themselves:
SkylArc Studio is a day services program that provides opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to express themselves through art. SkylArc Studio provides a safe and comfortable environment that encourages creativity and self-expression for individuals.
Check out their website here. And stay tuned for a recap of our first PY Writes workshop, which takes place on Saturday, April 29th at 1 pm. (There’s still time to sign up! Call the Penn Yan Public Library at 315-536-6114.)
