Submissions Open for Issue Four

Is it already a cliche to say that 2020 has been a difficult and challenging year? Nevertheless, it’s nothing but the truth, and believe us, we’ve felt every second of it. More, we know that creativity is difficult to harness under the best of circumstances, and that sometimes as the stresses and sorrows pile up, the energy to put words together ebbs away. But we also know that sometimes the opposite is true, that danger and crisis and uncertainty and injustice can rip down the walls holding back our words, releasing a torrent of hope, or anger, or questions, or silliness, or any other damn thing our overactive imaginations can come up with!

With that in mind, we gently invite one and all to submit work for the fourth issue of Bluff & Vine. We’re not going to let a little thing like a global pandemic get in the way of our unbroken record of writing excellence–especially not this year when, let’s not forget, we’ve opened up to submissions reflecting the entire Finger Lakes region.

So send us your lockdown memoir, or your anxiety-driven fiction, or your protest poetry—or whatever else you’d like to share. This doesn’t have to be the ‘pandemic issue,’ but hey, it could be! As long as it has a view from or into our beautiful, diverse, resilient Finger Lakes region, we will be honored to consider it. Have your submissions to us by September 30, and we’ll get back to you about them once we’ve received and reviewed everything. To see all the details on our guidelines, click Submissions above.

We can’t wait to see your work!
